One Word, One Church
Walking Together in Scripture at Providence
This Bible reading plan is designed to help our church grow together through a shared rhythm of Scripture. By aligning our personal reading with the passages preached on Sundays and taught in Sunday school, the plan provides clear spiritual direction and encourages consistent engagement with God’s Word throughout the week.
Reading the same passages creates unity within our congregation. When we are centered on the same Scriptures, our conversations become more intentional and meaningful, whether in Sunday school, general church life, or in everyday interactions. Scripture becomes a common foundation that strengthens relationships and deepens spiritual conversation.
Revisiting the Scripture preached the previous Sunday allows God’s Word to take deeper root. Rather than being a one-time message, the sermon becomes an ongoing opportunity for reflection, prayer, and application as the Holy Spirit continues to shape our hearts through the text.
Reading ahead for upcoming Sunday school lessons prepares us to engage more fully in learning and discussion. Familiarity with the passage encourages active participation and helps us come ready to listen, ask questions, and grow together.
Ultimately, this reading plan invites us into a more intentional walk with Christ marked by unity, consistency, and spiritual growth. As we read together, we trust God to use His Word to guide our church, deepen our faith, and draw us closer to Him and to one another.
Guidance for Monday through Thursday
As you revisit the Scripture from the previous sermon, take time to move beyond surface reading and into deeper understanding. Seek to understand the passage as the original audience would have heard it by considering the historical setting, the author’s background, the intended audience, and the circumstances surrounding the text. Reflect on how the passage aligns with the overall message of Scripture and core biblical theology. Finally, prayerfully examine how God is calling you to respond, both inwardly and outwardly, by identifying areas of obedience, repentance, growth, and trust. Scripture not only informs us but forms us, revealing both biblical markers of faithfulness and warnings against spiritual backsliding.
You will likely use additional resources when diving deeper & gathering things like context, though some of this will often be provided during the sermon. Be sure to check the author’s credibility and alignment with our theology (reference the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 online if unsure).
